Safety at BaaiCore

Practical guidance to help customers and service professionals use BaaiCore safely and responsibly in Alberta, Canada.

1. Our Safety Principles

Verified Professionals

We use verification steps intended to build trust on the platform. Depending on service category and availability, this may include identity checks and requesting information such as licensing details or proof of insurance. Verification reduces risk, but it is not a guarantee of conduct or workmanship. Customers should still use reasonable precautions and review profiles carefully.

Secure, Milestone-Based Payments

Where payment features are available, payments are processed through our platform and our payment partners. For eligible services, you can use milestones or confirmations to reduce uncertainty and keep a clear record of what was agreed.

Transparent Reviews

Reviews and ratings help users make better decisions. We may moderate reviews to enforce platform rules (for example, removing spam or prohibited content), while aiming to preserve honest, relevant feedback.

Compliance with Alberta Standards

Pros are responsible for complying with applicable laws, codes, permits, and safety requirements for the work they perform (including regulated trades). Customers should confirm permits or inspections where appropriate for the type of work.

Not Legal Advice

This Safety page provides general information and does not constitute legal advice or emergency guidance. If you need urgent help, contact emergency services.

2. Best Practices for Customers

Keep Conversations and Payments On-Platform

Use in-app messaging and on-platform payments where available. It creates a clear record of what was discussed and helps us provide meaningful support if something goes wrong.

Clarify Scope and Access

Describe the work clearly and share photos where helpful. For in-home visits, consider having a responsible adult present and securing valuables. Confirm the scope (what is included/excluded), schedule, materials, and access arrangements before work begins.

Confirm Credentials and Insurance

For regulated trades or higher-risk work, ask about licensing, permits, and insurance (for example, general liability insurance). If you need permits/inspections, confirm who is responsible for pulling permits and scheduling inspections.

Weather and Seasonal Considerations

Plan for Alberta’s seasonal conditions. Outdoor work may be delayed by weather, and some repairs are safer to perform in specific seasons. Discuss contingencies and any urgent risk mitigation steps.

Know Your Rights

Consumers may have rights under applicable consumer protection laws. If a dispute arises, keep records (photos, invoices, messages) and communicate promptly and respectfully.

3. Best Practices for Professionals

Maintain Your Alberta Verification

Keep your profile accurate and up to date, including licensing or certification details (where applicable) and proof of insurance. If you are unsure of requirements for a trade or municipality, verify before accepting work.

Estimate Responsibly

Provide clear estimates, document assumptions, and confirm any scope changes in writing. Get customer approval before additional work proceeds. For higher-value projects, consider using a written agreement that clearly sets out scope, pricing, timing, and change-order handling.

Protect Customer Privacy

Collect only the information you need to deliver the service, and protect it appropriately. If you operate as a business, you may have obligations under applicable privacy laws. Avoid storing sensitive customer data unnecessarily.

Maintain Required Insurance

Maintain insurance appropriate to the work you perform and be prepared to provide proof upon request. If you have staff, ensure you follow applicable employment and workplace safety requirements.

Follow Alberta Safety Codes

Follow applicable safety codes and standards for regulated work (for example, electrical or gas). Obtain permits where required and keep documentation available for the customer.

4. Safety Resources & Compliance

Alberta-Specific Resources

If you are uncertain about requirements, consult reputable sources for guidance (for example, provincial resources related to safety codes, permits, and consumer protection).

Winter Service Safety

Severe weather creates additional risks. Customers and Pros should consider safe access, visibility, ice hazards, and appropriate protective equipment when performing or scheduling winter services.

Home Service Compliance

Pros are responsible for understanding and following applicable regulations and municipal requirements. Customers should ask questions when a project may require permits, inspections, or specialized licensing.

5. Reporting & Emergencies

Report an Issue

Use in-app reporting on a job, or email safety@baaicore.com. Include the job ID, what happened, and any supporting information (for example, photos or screenshots) so we can review.

Emergency Guidance

If there is immediate danger, contact Alberta emergency services at 911 first. For gas leaks, contact ATCO Gas Emergency Line at 1-800-511-3447. For electrical emergencies, contact your local utility provider. Then notify BaaiCore so we can assist and document the incident.

Consumer Protection Concerns

If you believe a business has violated consumer protection requirements, you may also consider contacting appropriate government resources in your jurisdiction. You should keep records of communications and receipts.
